Look Back
When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.
One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

| After a crazy day at work master chief Tolliver decided to go out for a beer. After arriving and picking out a stool at the bar, he was ready to order himself a drink. Surrounded by laughter, he was surprised how calm it made him. Being a cop isn't an easy job, but somebody has to do it. While he sits there, sipping his beer he suddenly remembers that he forgot to buy some more insulating foam for the home improvement.

| Fireworks normally made the little girl happy, but when the rain of sparks hit the tree and the dry leave caught fire she had to fight with her emotions to keep from starting to cry.

| The day's drive has been a lonely one, I tried to dance in my seat and almost crashed into the stone medium on I-94. Then the old lady with the blue caddy drove up to my passenger side window just to laugh at me, I was so angry that I swerved away leaving tire burns on the road, yelling "Kiss my ass grandma!"

| The movie preview opened to the scene of a girl happily frolicking in a dandelion meadow. She was living in denial for she was to die soon, and was comfortably existing in a current state of denial although this state was to become one of panic, for the girl was to enter training later in the year for her disease. She was to become famous however after her passing away and the american public hungrily wanted to consume every piece of information about what her life was like, this included giving tours of her home.
did that even make sense?

| I thought back to the car, when we had watched the clouds pass overhead, and remembered the spaghetti and how nice everything was arranged and our love for each other before the lion attacked her from behind, clawing and gnawing.
