Monthly Writing Prompt
For this month's writing prompt write a scene using the following sentence to start;

The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?

Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

Do I Dare

With all these demons screaming
When darkness seemingly crawls across the landscape
There are only a few questions I can ask

Do I dare?
What do I dare?
To peak through the cream curtains
Through the clear, cut, and cleaned windows
to stare at the hair of the demon bound by hell

Can I dare?
To dare myself to continue staring
At these hellish forms speaking in clear whispers
Or do I dare close my eyes as my house conspires against me with the hellish creatures

Do I spare?
Do I spare another rest in this house?
Or surely will the boogeyman catch me
And drag me across the muddy landscape
The thoughts of leaves and bugs crawling in my hair and my nails with grit

Can I spare?
What can I spare as I hear the growls of the night?
Would mercy be something that they would understand
Or would they surely not spare me and take every part

Do I continue?
Do I continue to forfeit my life?
As I continuously stare out into the swampy forest
The trees creating forms themselves, their
willing branches are that of sad fingers and their bodies
Three or more woman formed together

Can I continue?
Or when will their eyes of red, fire, and brimstone finally meet
My eyes of green, earth, and life

With all these demons screaming
And the darkness surely gleaming
Do I dare?

This is a great piece, with some editing that is. I like the images you bring to life, you can hear the sadness when you read it and its not as depressing but more on a mystical, sad and mysterious level. The six verse breaks up a bit and you repeat the images, not so much so that the reader is turned away but just enough for them to say, its a good piece. Nice job Leaka!
