Look Back
When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.
One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

| Okay, I'm pissed. Let me explain.
I am a 50 yr. old guy who writes fantasy stories and plays on computers. I have some experience teaching. I am twice divorced, but a good family man. I even have the children from my second marriage, as that lady ran out on them as well as me.
Okay, that said, I have put myself out there on a few 'public' sites. I have computer experience, so have professional knowledge in fighting viruses on my own beyond using a firewall or virus protection. No one can trash my credit rating, because my first wife has already done that quite well. I thus have no fear in using the internet.
I get messages like this from prospective ladies -
1) am linda i will like to know you moe
2) care to chat? add me on yahoo then am online.. its <address removed>
3) hi wats up hottie? just droppin by to say hi like your profile..do u have yahoo? im online ryt now if you wish to talk add me <address removed>
Does this read anything like somebody who wants to live with a fantasy writing turtle loving guy? Some even ask for my email. IT IS ON MY PAGE! This tells me that they really aren't interested in who I am. I guess that they want my money, but they can stand behind a line of bill collectors and my ex-wives for that.
Now, I recognize that it will not be usual lady that would be interested in me. I also recognize that there are a lot of crazies on the internet. still, I would expect a little more testing of the water before jumping in. My usual response to most is simply, "Why?" I have all this information on my profile, so what caused you to be interested.
A) Do you like to read fantasy? (do you like to read at all?) B) Do you like turtles? Do you also like nature? C) Do you live nearby? (closest that I get is Texas) D) Are you close to my age? (I don't want a 20-something, because they will make me change diapers again) E) Are you also a Virgo? Do you like my hairstyle? SOMETHING?
I am getting tired of the foolishness. | |

| They are bots. Trolling, useless bots. I refuse to meet someone online unless it just "happens". I like to talk with the girls in college, because they are goal-oriented right off the bat lol. Good luck with your pursuit! | |

| Oh come on, college girls are not goal oriented, I watched "Girls gone Wild" for 1 min at a time, and I have to say, they seem like very free for all kind of sprites. | |

| LOL! Ok, NOT 18 year old college girls. You can find folks of ALL ages at the local JC though, and more likely than not the conversation is better than if you were to try and talk about Dickens with a toothless bar hag. | |

| I'll have to agree with that, the local JC, or even just taking an evening course at a Community College or State College could lead to some very fun and entertain encounters, if not the students then some of the faculty. | |
