Look Back
When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.
One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

| I would put the announcement in the cafe. That is the more friendly section. Putting it in the NewsFlash is a little bold. Still, you came here - so you could have gone ahead and given the specifics. | |

| Hey Congrats on your Novel!
I would put a link in this Topic to show us your new book, or put something in the body of the text to tell us about the book.
Good luck with that! | |

| Newsflash, I feel is really the place to put such announcements, as there really isn't much to discuss, but the General Discussions or Cafe forums would work as well.
Either way, congrats. | |

| OK, here goes :- Otherwise Kill Me allows the reader through a door, into the mind of a violent schizophrenic. Francis Page is a London club doorman, who's reaching the end of his shelf-life in the bouncing game. He resorts to smuggling drugs to make some big money, but he gets caught and sent to prison, where his violence is treated with neuroleptic tranquilizers. He kills a guard and is transferred to a secure phychiatric hospital, from where he escapes. Francis finds out that, while he was locked up, his teenage daughter has become a heroin addict and he goes on a revenge rampage, killing everyone he feels is responsible. He is spoken to by many 'voices' who tell him many contradicting things. He can't make sense of it all and eventually kills himself. The novel paints a surreal picture, full of strange landscapes which are alien to most individuals, but which are a very real part of the human condition. Otherwise Kill Me is available from Amazon, Waterstones, WHSmith, Borders and most other on-line booksellers - or from the publisher www.wildwolfpublishing.com - links on my website - http://www.johnfmcdonald.co.uk | |

| Wow. That seems to have a nice Poe-like build up from it. | |
