Monthly Writing Prompt
For this month's writing prompt write a scene using the following sentence to start;

The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?

Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

Down the epitomized trail in esoteric contemplation;
absorbed by the unequivocal importance of vertical.
Her heart becoming her own incendiary, afflicted,
and puzzled by the torment of loves journey.

Experiencing the newness elated and presumptuous;
leaves the bull searching the stars for retort.
Intimidated with theoretical happiness;
all scamper to find their souls conformity.

Spending most of her life as a traditionalist;
Allowing nothing to change her parsimonious life.
She finds that the biggest metamorphosis was preeminent;
prodigious even in inauspicious times.

Now with a kaleidoscopic of whirl pooled effusion;
Her enigmatic heart many times cicatrized.
Seems not at all roiled or even mangled;
but uproarious with indispensable fancy.

To be honest I wrote it using the some words you wouldn't normally see in a poet's work. It's semi-confusing and thrown together, my haphazard way of trying to break away from the mundane *I love you* stuff.

Thanks Urs.

That was what I enjoyed, the rarity of the word choice, not words I would expect to see, and even had to look up most of them, but they flowed well together, so it was like looking at a "Art of words" as opposed to just reading a poem.

I, too, looked up quite a few of the words but it was worth it. I like that despite all the specific words, it's also a little vague and broad like what the heart goes through.

It's easy to find love poems about a particular love/lover, but to describe the condition of the heart without pinpointing a specific circumstance leaves the poem very open.

I like that.

Thanks so much for your comment. Although I enjoyed writing it, I doubt that it will appeal to a wider audience because no one wants to look up every other word.
