Look Back
When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.
One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

| I find that the more swamped I am with homework, group work, work work, the more I want to write. And of course, when I have the time, I do anything but write.
For example, just recently I've gotten my sarcastic little comics into the college paper. I can sit for hours in my room and not have a single idea. Sitting in class, well...I come out with a handful.

| I used to write in class. The instructor would think that I was taking steady notes. Okay, I would take notes, but often my margins were filled with thoughts or I would be switching out notebooks. I however was eager to have some of my own time, as I would then write down what had been filling my head (and my notes).
Remember, if you cannot think of anything new, work at editing the old.

With the average teacher I'd say this would be fine, but when I was in high school I had this real asshole for a Sociology teacher. He found out one day that I wrote poetry, mind you I wasn't writing it in his class I just had the notebook with it in my bag, and tried to force me to share it. I'm really not sure what he's reasoning was, though I'd judge from other things he did it was an attempt at humor and not something meant to motivate me. Bottom line, unless you want to share it I'd keep my writing out of the classroom if I were you.

| Well, that never happened to me, and I don't make it happen to my students (if I catch them off-topic, I simply remind them about their grades on-topic). Anyway, NEVER be ashamed of what you do. You will be praying for attention in the future, so be grateful for it today. | |

| I don't have time to write in class. I don't see myself being able to keep up with note-taking and writing ideas too. That's a scary thought!
Even if I have ideas, I do it when I have time for my homework, when I stay after school or go early. I will honestly say, I do my best work at school, it's just easier to concentrate.
Then with the School Program's newsletter on my shoulders and with very little help from the other's since it is a student based newsletter, I lose even more time even during those homework times.

| You poor thing Bick! I know from experience that being the motivating force behind a project is not easy.
Hang in there, it will pay off. It did for me, literally, through scholarships.

| I often write in class, 'cause I have a suckish attention span. xP.
I still manage very good grades in all honors classes though... somehow. Haha.
