Look Back
When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.
One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

| If you are a reader or writer you have often read quotes by other famous or not so famous people. While reading did one or more of 'said' quotes inspire you?
I'm a quote collector. Sometimes when I can't find the words to say I read through my collection of quote and see something that says exactly what I was thinking. It amazes me that our connection with other people in the world expands beyond just the normal everyday interaction.
You can find quotes from all generations and walks of life. Sometimes individual quote can also provide you with a writing idea.
My question to you is 'are there any quotes that are important to you and why?'

| "The key that unlocks energy is desire. It's also the key to a long and interesting life. If we expect to create any drive, any real force within ourselves, we have to get excited." -- Earl Nightingale
This quote inspires me in so many ways. It can be applied to all areas of life. Thinking about these particular boards. Scribbles was just an idea at one point. It takes a lot of management to keep it going, trying to get members who are active and participating. Then it applies to my writing, when I reach a certain point in a piece it is either going to die off for a while or its going to keep going until it ends. Upon completion of a certain piece I'm sometimes so happy to share with others. Isn't that enthusiastic?

| I thought this was a very intelligent quote: "We aren’t what we ought to be. We aren’t what we’re going to be. We aren’t what we want to be. But, thank God, we aren’t what we were."
A lesson in leaving the past where it belongs, behind us perhaps?

| 'The best love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more, that plants a fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds!'
I really like this quote probably because I share a love like that. I never really thought about love and what it may be, or how exactly it may change my life. But when you think about it and you look into your partners eyes, and those things affect you, then you know you're there!

| "The journey of a thousand miles must begin with one single step." - Lao Tzu
I think that's it. That was the quote they had at the first meeting for my College Program, it's a program for High School dropouts and I don't think I'll ever forget that quote, it really does mean a lot. Taking that first step on a journey, and when entering that program, that's exactly what I did. It's become one of my favorites.

| Two quotes that are my personal favorites are:
"When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has been opened for us," Helen Keller.
The reason I like this quote is that it is true. We do tend to look at closed doors and never look at open doors. Its just the way we are as human beings.
"Men were born to succeed not to fail," Henry David Thoreau
The reason I like this quote is because its also true. Everyone say I can't when they can. If we didn't have the capabilities of winning then we could truly say we can't.

| "There are only three ways to overcome your adversity, effort, planning, and prayer, and since no amount of effort or planning will make this rain stop, I suggest we start praying" I believe this was said by Patton, but I am not sure it was said by a general in war time, that much I know.
I like this one because it is a simple truth of life, and I like quotes that make complex things simple and straightforward.
"There are only two things a man needs to know, what he can do and what he can't do" Captain Jack Sparrow, Pirates of the Caribbeans Curse of the Black Pearl.
