Look Back
When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.
One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

| I am impressed with the quality of this forum! Well done! My name is Lackey and I have been writing for a while, but only professionally for a few years. My day job was copy writing for catalogs, training materials and other such publications. Recently, I have begun putting pen to paper and etching out a purely honest non-fiction piece, which is harder than I thought. I tend to view myself as slightly more heroic than I actually was! I do more rambling than I should, but who can help it? It's just too much fun. I look forward to getting to know you all in the future.
Thanks!

| Welcome to Scribbles Lackey!

| Well, I suppose I started using it when everyone liked it better than my first name. The name itself holds familial ties to the Scot/English Borderlands and has deeper meaning for life in general. In English, a lackey is a servant for those that do not remember. Its not exactly in wide use anymore. =)
Thanks for the welcome and I believe I will stay a while!
