Monthly Writing Prompt
For this month's writing prompt write a scene using the following sentence to start;

The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?

Writing Tip
Our monthly writing tips are written by our very own TerishD. You can read more in Terish's Blog located in "The Abstractions" area of the forum.

Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

You're listening to the radio, or just popped in a CD, what exactly are you listening to?

I'm a lyrics girl myself.

I like singing along and I like songs with powerful lyrics.

I'm actually into different kinds of music. Mostly r'n'b, 2-step and rock. I listen to country, hip-hop and pop as well.

If I like a song I don't care what style it is.

But I like to sing as well, and in my opinion a song without good lyrics isn't worth much. The lyrics are what makes songs great songs!

Yeah I'm with you, lyrics are the most important aspect. If the music is catchy however I could possibly learn to live with the song for the most part.

I enjoy the entire arrangement; lyrics, melody, artist (some I don't care for) and beat. Nothing like shaking your ass to the music while working!

Every instrument in music plays its part, whatever style it is. If all the instruments play their parts well, I'll like the song. And, if I can play any of the instruments (voice included Wink), I like to play along.

So, I'm interested in the whole thing!

I say it has to be everything in a song.
I especially love how music chords and what not change.
I really like melody differences and such.
And I like everything there is to music even singing.
Sometimes a song that sounds cool will turn me off just be the singing.
