The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?

Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

The Bard's Clue Empty
PostSubject: The Bard's Clue   The Bard's Clue Icon_minitimeJuly 23rd 2008, 12:27 am

I liked poetry, until I started speaking with poets. Let me simply say that I like semi-silly rhyming poetry, and most poets like weird dry non-rhyming stuff. Anyway, Saphira said that this was poetry, so I am sharing.

Oh flimsy gin
_____I dare not grin
__________The portrait was thrown in the mire
Twice I told
_____The wolf so bold
__________That I would not in white expire

The ice did bleed
_____As I stood to read
__________The stockings washed in lilies red
Tumbling into town
_____She did not yet drown
__________Kicking the wolf with my head

Oh flimsy gin
_____I still won't grin
__________Though the wolf is in the mire
Up below did I see
_____The portrait of me
__________I'm not in white so I might expire

I can explain it, but that takes all the poetic fun out of it. If you find enjoyment in it, I will feel good. Will I do this often, no. However, when it happens again, I might share again.
