Monthly Writing Prompt
For this month's writing prompt write a scene using the following sentence to start;

The streets were deserted. Where was everyone? Where had they all gone?

Writing Tip
Our monthly writing tips are written by our very own TerishD. You can read more in Terish's Blog located in "The Abstractions" area of the forum.

Look Back

When not able to write ahead, it helps to look back. In my case I had written a paragraph ahead of the story. What I needed to do was add a section of exposition (talking) presenting some facts. In going back, I realized that I could insert a section where a 'tour' of the surroundings could be done. This allowed for character interaction, story development, and other things that enabled me to present the facts in an entertaining manner.

One should not face a writer's block with the mentality of bursting through it. I have found in my own experience that a writer's block is usually due to my mind indicating that it has a problem in 'channeling' the story. One reason might be a re-imagining of certain story points. Another reason however is that there is a problem in where you are at in the story, so you need to look back and find out the problem with the 'journey' that prevents the tale from advancing.

So the publisher loves your work, and you are to be published right away. Things in your life couldn't be any better until...

Your agent, editor and publisher sit you down in a room and tell you to give them the gist of your novel in 100 words. Advertising is costly and they want your work to sell because if you make money, they make money.

So tell us in a paragraph or so what you are currently working on.

Cool, as I needed to do this anyway -

Manuscript #1
"Lessons Never Taught"
A young man gains a pegasus to rescue and win the girl of his dreams. He succeeds at the rescue with the help of a female assassin, but those in power do not bestow any honor. A tale of death, politics, and magic follows as both discover secrets neither wanted to uncover.

Manuscript #2
"Life is Its Own Complication"
A part elf-part horse young lady is sent on a journey with an ogre to learn of her past. She finds that while not cursed, a normal life cannot be hers. Joined by family, heroes, and the villian that made her, she hopes to understand her origins in order to save her world from an ancient tragedy.

the goblin could only relate to this thread seeing that it wasn't his aim here saying "...I think of all my "last post" threads out there I doubt there is one that has 13742views for 685posts at this point, making a hit/post rate of 20 to 1, that is the highest I know of...", not that it mattered, only that it showed that that "to post is to publish" idea was not as far fetched as one might think here, continuing "...I will always be anonymous, but in these early days I am already pleased with the results so far, both for my persona as a goblin who writes in third person and for those sites where I post on..." in fact, the goblin, in a word, was still trying to conquer the Internet, "...hay that's impossible..." went the voices in the background, not that the goblin could win he knew that, "...oh no, it's precisely because I can't win that I keep trying, you see, you're alive aren't you, you know that your life too is somehow finite but this impossibility to live forever, doesn't stop you one bit from trying to live on trying to make the most of your lives, well where's the difference here then mortals..." and that was the gist of the plot he felt but where would this adventure would lead was up to the reader participation here since those "last post" threads were a communal not individual, adding "...well perhaps a million hits would be nice..."
